Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitar player and music artist. She is the youngest woman and the first to receive a British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is a student as well as daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982, and began her life by hopping back and forth to London as well as New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years old. After moving to Encinitas, CA in 1999 she received a high-school diploma. Anouskha was only 17 years old, has had an extremely successful recording and performing career. For a long time she has been performing regularly with her father. She released her debut album in 1998. released Anourag as her first solo record. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. Her career doesn't just comprise music. She released Bapi the Heart of My Life, in the year 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She also acted on movie in 2003. She played a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising superstar and her fame is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shakar, born in England spent a large part of her time between London Delhi. Following her move to California she graduated from high school. She began learning music at age 9 and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi just four years after. Anoushka, who accompanied her father throughout his global tour, gained an incredible quantity of knowledge. When she was in her teens, she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. She was the first woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her talent and musicianship within music and the Asian Arts.
